Frequently Asked Questions - ADAPTATEUR PDA USB #F5U109EA BELKIN

How to install the Belkin F5U109EA adapter on Windows?
Plug the adapter into a free USB port. Windows should detect it automatically. If necessary, install the drivers provided on the CD (or downloadable from the Belkin website).
Why is my PDA not syncing with HotSync?
Check that the HotSync manager is set to Local Serial (not Local USB). Make sure the COM port assigned to the Belkin adapter is the same as the one selected in HotSync. Set the speed to 19200 kbps (or 9600 if problems).
How to find the COM port assigned to the Belkin adapter?
Under Windows, open Device Manager (right-click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager). Expand the Ports section. The adapter appears as 'Serial on USB (COM#)' or 'Belkin COM Port (COM#)'. Note the COM number.
Is the adapter compatible with Windows 10?
The manual mentions Windows 98 to XP. Under Windows 10, it may work with generic drivers, but without guarantee. Try plugging it in and check if it is recognized. Otherwise, search for compatible drivers on the Belkin website.
What if HotSync fails to connect?
Make sure the internal modem does not share the same COM port as the adapter. Check in Device Manager that both devices do not use the same COM number. If so, change the modem port (under Windows 2000/XP).
Can I use this adapter with a non-Palm PDA?
The adapter is designed for Palm PDAs using the serial protocol. Other PDAs with a serial port might work, but compatibility is not guaranteed. Test with your device.
How to clean the adapter?
Unplug the adapter before cleaning. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe the contacts and casing. Avoid solvents or water.
What if the adapter's light does not turn on?
Check that the adapter is properly plugged into a functional USB port. Test on another USB port. If still no light, the adapter may be defective. Contact Belkin support.
Does the adapter require external power?
No, the adapter is powered by the USB port (bus power). No external power is required.
Where to download drivers for this adapter?
Drivers are available on the official Belkin website (www.belkin.com). Search in the support section with the reference F5U109EA. You can also use Windows generic drivers.
